Ananya Vajpeyi on Abanindranath Tagore at SAA-JNU, Delhi

New Delhi: Here are details of an interesting talk scheduled for this coming Friday, August 31, 2012 in New Delhi. The School of Arts and Aesthetics at Jawaharlal Nehru University is hosting noted South Asian  scholar, Ananya Vajpeyi, who will deliver the talk, “Signifying India: Abanindranath Tagore and the Aesthetic Shock of Indian History.”  Vajpeyi teaches colonial and modern South Asian History at the University of Massachusetts in Boston. Her teaching and interest areas include imperialism, colonialism, and decolonization in South Asia, as well as the comparative history of ideas in India and Europe. Her writing has been extensively published in newspapers and magazines in South Asia, Europe and the UK.
